Blue
Eyed River Runs
As I gaze out on the raging sea
The pulsing city lies behind me
I am reminded of the standing stones
How flowers bloom in scattered bones
I walked with you at river bend
Beneath burning brow
In dry stream canyon
I walked with you beneath branch and bow
With childs eyes and warriors bow
Between to seek to heal or overthrow
I sat with you above the throne
And gazed out on humility
Through chaos and eternity
We watched the sun set on the world
The city lights and baby girls
And little boys with guns
The forests tall and waterfalls
The mountains and the seas
And the blue eyed river runs
You stood by me through my hell
And drank deep from the wishing well
Patiently waiting
As I leapt there skipping school
The hammer and the golden rule
The swords and fawns and dawns and cool
How sweet it is to be so wise
And many times the fool
Cleverly watching
I was with you in the blinding light
Another day and darkest night
Satin sheets and crosses
Prophecy and losses
Scratched across the sky
And without you I would die
We saw the brown eyed maiden fall
At the foot of bleeding thief
Who turned into her savior
A thousand times defeated
At the foot of the highest mountain
A stone rolled over the edge
And Jesus sing a song for me
I am rolling like a stone
Through the sun and hermits eye
Following the moon
A lotus and a daisy chain
Not wither I too soon
Forever young and fragrant
Just a song before I go
Tread beneath angels heels
At the very top of hell
With your long sad eyes in the wishing pool
And no crown upon my head
The timeless oracle sweetest speaks
Of life and all is dead
I lay with you beneath birch and banyan
Outside Babylons fence
With your heavens gated touch
And the old ones in the canyon
A gypsys home
A rolling stone
And three words spoken true
I was with the one that is you
I was with the one that you do
I was with the one that is who
Three words spoken true
I love you
An alive and dancing flame
In the outstretched whispered name
And in the palm of your heart
Rejoice the beaten angel sings
To rise above the earthly things
The flesh is thick with desire
And the mortal coiled around
Unstill my beating heart
All that is lost is found
I was with you in the medicine
The staff and beating drums
And revealed the surest morning
My arrow through the sun
My sky bent bowstring hums
In your belly round and full
Divine Mother of the world
Daughter of the sun
With the moon beneath your feet
And in the distance there comes Aton Ra
Closer to me than me
Who sails a ship of sun
Upon a sky so deep
And which of these is more real
The ever riddled prose
The rose pedals dewy silence
Or the ones who think they know
And must we choose
Recompense the blues
With nothing left to lose
I walked with you beneath hallowed sky
Like the sun upon an angels eye
And you held up the cup
And caught the rain from prophets pain
And washed my weary feet
As the blind man saw the rising sun
Just as the closing song was sung
Memories bubble up so clear
To all I am and greet you here
Turning goldy locks from shame
And have I known a time so swift
And setting all my ships adrift
I was floating in the stars
I was with you through the prison bars
On the Great Plains where our horses are
And shaking in the thunder
With paint on battlescars
The tired and noble chief did shield the children
From false lightning and cold dead pale faces
We had left the camp that day
Our love had pulled us away
For our lives were full of struggle and of sorrow
Within each others eyes we found tomorrow
We wandered to the lonely tree
Stoic in a grassy sea
And embraced beyond our fathers rules
Fate had uplifted us
It was then we awoke from sweetest dream
We heard our grand and mothers scream
False thunder broke our ears
The wind was howling mourning songs
We ran through blurry eyes
Pounding hooves and battlecries
Our family distant cried
For love of Earth and seasons passing
We knew Grandfather had fallen
A forked tree now that stands
A people echoed in time
I was with you stumbling in the highest valley
Stabbed by the beauty of the day
We ran silent blind and broken
As the buffalo ran on the burning plain
And the summer turned to rain
The distance showed no hope
We flew into each other
I was with you another circle tied
With bleeding heart and child died
On cobblestone beneath hanging light
History repeats
I was with you in the seas that Mary cried
Two faces in a crown
They hung our brother crucified
Beneath the paralyzed sun
I was with you in a simple way
And this my deepest wish this day
As I am leaping over hills
That we are freed from tragedy
On the raging sea beneath gentle sun
And dont bring each other promises
But let the blue eyed river run
